Ultim Studio partnered with POAP in order to help them understand more about their users and create a UX solution based on these findings. During the one-week sprint, our team managed to deliver a comprehensive user research report that answered all the team's questions, and an elegant UX solution for the founder to implement.
Goal
POAP is an Ethereum-based protocol that uses the NFT technology to prove that someone attended a real-life event. Our mission was to gather insights from the team, send out a form to all POAP users, and come up with a UX proposal that would solve all the pain points we find.
Challenge
Users were very excited to participate in the form, because of this, most of them wanted to submit it 5 or more times to ensure more POAPs for their participation. We had to spot this trend and make sure our final output was as close to reality as possible.
Solution
After the first day of the sprint, the POAP team sent out our 5-minute form, that included all the assumptions we had about the users, based on the call with the team. The form gained popularity and in less than 24 hours had to close down because it was getting so much traction that Typeform had to limit our account. In the end, we got over 1,000 people submitting the form and offering us valuable insights.
Our team discovered that:
Badge collectors wanted to feel good they are part of a community
Badge collectors wanted to discover more events based on the events they participated in
Organizers wanted to receive the badges without having to contact the POAP team
We solved these by:
Offer them different products like Art that would make them feel more a part of the POAP community
Offered a discovery more events feature that showed future or past events based on users POAPs
For now it wasn’t technically feasible to create a system that would automate creating badges for organizers so we designed a learn more section that would answer any questions the organizers might have, reducing the strain on the POAP team
Results
Offered the team a much better understanding of their users
Gave them a sense of ownership in the final outcome
Offered the team a solution for making their users feel more a part of the community and increase their usage of POAP
Earned users loyalty by listening and implementing direct feedback
Offered some great ideas on future features to build
