Ultim Studio partnered with Rainmaker, a YC startup from New York, in order to help them understand their users and imagine a world where every DeFi investment is done effortlessly through the use of a mobile app. During the sprint, our team worked closely with the founders, in order to turn their vision into a fully functional MVP that not only delights its users but also features the one of the best UX design for mobile DeFi investing.
Goal
When Carlos and Brent joined as partners, they already had a fully working MVP of Rainmaker, a wallet that uses the power of account abstraction in order to create one-tap, gas-less transactions on some of the best EVM opportunities. They knew they were great programmers but they needed someone with a strong web3 design background in order to guide them forward.
Challenge
Among others, one of the main challenges was explaining to users that the account abstraction technology is actually safer than having your own seed phrase. Usually hardcore DeFi users, have their own traditional wallets, and they were wary of a new technology they can’t understand.
Solution
During a 4-week process, the team carried out interviews, UX, UI, and usability tests, bringing Rainmaker’s vision to reality through a carefully iterated MVP.
Among many things, our team discovered that:
Because of the AA technology users felt that the app was not a place where they can poor a lot of money into.
Users were not only for investing but also for airdrop hunting, taking advantage of the gas-less transactions.
In order to use the app for bridging, more experienced users wanted to feel that they get the best rate if they do this from inside the app.
We addressed these by:
Created a learn section with “Quick 5 minute reads” where people could digest articles on how Rainmaker keeps their accounts safe.
We designed a quest section where users would receive points for doing certain actions and therefore contribute to potentially receiving an airdrop.
We showcased a section explaining that we offer the best bridge rates for users.
Results
Offered the team more insights on how people were interacting with the product
Improved their UX by solving users’ needs
Delighted the users through a long-lasting UI design
Created a base for expanding the product through a solid design system.
