Sowmay Jain and his team are amazing programmers but sought the expertise of someone with a diverse web3 design background in order to make their dapp shine. By leveraging our design sprint, we addressed their users' needs, redesigned their platform, and helped the team secure a $10M round.
Goal
InstaDapp helps users manage their DeFi positions through a powerful and smart dashboard. Our mission was to understand why users are interacting with the dapp the way they do and come up with a new and refreshed experience for every section of the dapp.
Challenge
The challenge was coming up with a UX that would address users' needs. Because InstaDapp is a novel product, most of the UX practices we used had to be performed for the very first time, meaning there was no other source of inspiration for us. We had to create the solution from scratch.
Solution
After a few calls with the InstaDapp team, we understood that the project had to be done in parts. We started with the main dashboard and slowly continued with the other features of the dapp: refinancing, strategy maker, and many others.
In our first design sprint, the team discovered that:
The UX wasn't working for less experienced investors.
The UI had too much cognitive load and was difficult to navigate.
The swap function was unintuitive.
We solved these by:
Creating tooltips throughout the product explaining each DeFi term for normal users.
Designing a new and refreshed UI design system.
Redesigning the swap experience both UX and UI.
Results
InstaDapp raised $10M
Understood what their users were struggling with
Strong UX
Refreshed UI
Increased revenue from platform usage
United the team around a shared goal
Earned users' loyalty by listening and implementing direct feedback
Created a base for expanding the product through a solid design system
